Pre-K - School Based

Monongalia County Pre-K is a state-funded program overseen by Monongalia County Schools. This program serves children age 4 by June 30 of the current school year. Three-year-olds can also be placed in these classrooms if they have identified delays or if they have transitioned out of our Early Head Start program.

There is no cost for this program and enrollment is not based on income.  Transportation is offered within the home school area.

Applications are accepted beginning February of the year prior to enrollment. Children who apply before April 15 will be entered into the home school lottery if necessary.  Children who apply after April 15 will be offered spaces where available. Application information can be found at www.preschoolsteps.org.

Monongalia County Schools Pre-K classrooms can be found in two different types of locations, school-based and collaborative, offering parents options to meet their individual needs.

School-based sites offer students Pre-K Monday through Thursday, full school day hours during the regular school year.  Before and after school care is not available at school sites.  Families needing before school, after school, and/or Friday care are referred to our collaborative sites.  Information about collaborative sites can be found under its own tab.
