Monongalia County Schools Early Head Start Program developed the Vision, Mission, and Belief Statements through an extensive year-long community engagement process entitled “Vision 2020.” The Board-adopted Vision, Mission, and Belief Statements have been guiding our Early Head Start program’s philosophy for providing services to families in our community.

- promote economic, educational, health, nutrition, social service, and mental health self-sufficiency through extensive community partnerships.
- become an optimal training center for high school and college students, providing them with constructive learning environments and preparing them for the valuable profession of working with young children and their families.
- offer high quality center-based opportunities for pregnant and parenting teenagers and their children.
- provide staff and parents with individualized, high-quality training opportunities according to relevant interests and needs.

Mission
Our mission is to build a fiscally-responsible, comprehensive child development and Family Engagement support system that links families with needed services, promotes healthy family functioning, and enhances the development of infants and toddlers by providing high-quality school readiness opportunities for children. This early intervention system will promote the economic, educational, health and social well-being across the life span of the families we serve. We will demonstrate an appreciation for diversity, promoting celebration and acceptance of the similarities and differences within our program and community. Additionally, we will create connections between staff, parents, and community to provide resources and support for families of young children. Finally, we will promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women and teens, and their children by providing pre and post natal support in all realms of well-being.
